Explore life underwater at the Melaka Submarine Museum

Melaka Submarine Museum is located in the small town of Klebang, where visitors have the opportunity to view an actual submarine up-close. Open to the general public, the Melaka Submarine Museum was built with the intention of showcasing the lives and working conditions of marine soldiers. By extending this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to all, visitors can gain a fascinating insider’s perspective into an actual liveaboard experience.

Here, you will find the Agosta 70-class submarine standing proud and tall in its full glory. Built in France in 1978, the Agosta submarine accommodates 54 crew members and was primarily used as a training vessel by the Malaysian Navy from 2005 to 2009. Today, the submarine is propped up with metal stilts for display and to date, this museum is known to be the only submarine museum in Malaysia.

One of the highlights of this museum is that visitors are more than welcome on board where one can thoroughly explore the interior of the submarine. Journey through the vessel while taking in the unique living quarters as well as a glimpse of life underwater. For more, walk down the narrow corridors of the submarine and imagine what life would have been like for the marine soldiers within their quaint and cramped rooms aboard. At the entrance, visitors are also able to examine the original machinery and equipment that were used during the days of training in the Malaysian Navy.

Besides the Submarine Museum, there are also other activities to check out within the area including horse riding and learning about fighter jets that are displayed opposite the submarine.

The Melaka Submarine Museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Mondays to Thursdays and from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM on Fridays to Sundays, and is located within a 14-minute drive from the bustling town of Melaka.
